Not Facing Batter Balk

A pitcher must face the batter when delivering a pitch. Failing to do so is a balk.

Official Baseball Rules Rule 6.02(a)(6) 2026 edition

If there is a runner, or runners, it is a balk when the pitcher delivers the ball to the batter while he is not facing the batter.
